Cheap Car Insurance Texas?

Reader Question:

I’m moving to Texas in the next couple of months and am looking for a cheap insurance company to insure my car once I get to TX. I’m currently paying $117 a month to insure my 2006 Taurus. Is this a good price? Where can I get cheap car insurance in Texas from a reputable insurance company?

Thanks.

Adrienne C. Toledo OH (Soon to be Austin, Texas. Can’t wait)

Good question Adrienne. A lot of different factors affect your insurance rate (your driving record, your current deductable amount etc…) so what you’re paying now in OH may be perfectly reasonable. Fortunately Auto Insurance Companies in Texas are very competitive with each other so you should be able to get a lower rate with no problem.

Since you’re not in TX yet and can’t shop around with local agents in person I’d suggest getting at least 3 car insurance quotes online. It’s fast and free to do and you can get started just by entering the zip code of your new address. Remember to compare all parts of the policy between carriers not just the price.
